Power Tips for Progressive Women

8 Powerful Tips to a Magnificent Life
By Dawn Fields

Tip #1. Find your purpose. Finding one’s purpose is the key to having a happy and successful life. It all starts here. Find what you are passionate about. Find what you enjoy doing. Find a way to make a living doing it.

Tip #2. Create a definite purpose. It’s not enough to say ‘I like to help others’. You must think of exactly HOW you can help others. What do you like to help them do? Be as specific as possible.

Tip #3. Write out your goals. Now that you are specific about what you wish to do, write it down. Statistics shows that goals which are written down are more likely to be accomplished. And here’s an additional tip, write them down in the present tense.

Tip #4. Imagine your goals already accomplished. This is the fun part. Spend time imagining yourself already accomplishing the goals you wish to accomplish. If you want that dream home, visualize yourself living in it. If you want that new position, imagine yourself already in it. If you want more money, imagine yourself already spending it.

Tip #5. Get excited. That’s right. Get excited about this magnificent life you are living. Get excited about that raise, new position, your ability to help others, that new car, the book you have completed, you having the lead article in a major magazine. Get excited as if it has already happened in your life.

Tip #6. Have Faith. That’s right. Have faith that you will accomplish all of the things you desire and will, very soon, be living that magnificent life. There is no room for doubt. Do not, in any way, allow doubt or negativity to creep into your thoughts. Guard your thoughts and have faith.

Tip #7. Get out of the way. That’s right—get out of the way. Don’t be YOU about. Trust that God is in control and is making things work behind the scenes. Just keep focusing on the end results—what you are going to accomplish.

Tip #8—Take action. When you get the urge to do something—do it. Take action. Don’t just talk about it, be about it.

Follow these 8 tips and in no time at all you will be living the magnificent life that you have always desired and deserve.

Powerful Women

Smart Women - Help Another Woman Every Day
By Suzanne Doyle-Morris, PhD

I was recently reading an article about a Nancy Woodhull, the late USA Today editor. Besides at one time being one of the most powerful women in publishing, she was noted for the way she facilitated the success of other women. When she was the helm of one of the country’s largest papers, she remarked it was her duty to “do something to help another women every day”.

That phrase resonated with me at a deep level. I was struck by how much I also believed it, but also by its sheer simplicity. Since hearing it, I thought about the myriad ways we already help each other and the many ways that I could be doing more. The clients I work with often find that some form of conscious effort to help others often makes them feel better. Essentially, when giving, they are also receiving. The process of actively reaching out to other women gives them a new perspective and a feeling of being part of a community much larger than just the worlds of their office and home.

Putting this mantra into practice, I once invited a new colleague to lunch to help her feel more welcome to the organization. While we both enjoyed our time together; the tables turned. I found out so much more about our competitors and how they viewed our company – a topic of interest to the marketing team at the time. In the end I realized in my effort to “help another woman” I was the one who had actually been helped. So, what can you do today to help another woman?

Top Tips for Helping Another Woman

1. If you work in a male-dominated company, inquire how they actively recruit more women. Mentioning that diversity is one of the key tenets of business awards like “Investors in People” is a good incentive for otherwise intractable employers.

2. Mentor a new female employee to show them how you have managed. Just reminding them with your presence that women DO belong is often great encouragement. Mentoring a new recruit is also a great ego boost to remind you of how much you have accomplished.

3. If you have a choice, patronize women-owned businesses. More women are leaving full-time employment to start up their own businesses each year, so the choice is easier than before. If you unsure who owns the business, ask! If it is a partnership, find out how many of the partners are women. This works from law firms to nanny agencies.

4. Donate time or money to charitable causes that support women. Women’s organizations are among the most under-funded of charities, receiving far less in donations than causes related to children, specific diseases, animals and special interest groups.

Dr. Suzanne Doyle-Morris of Doyle Morris Coaching helps companies retain and develop their valuable, well-trained female talent. We specialize in working with professional women in the male-dominated fields of finance, law, I.T, manufacturing, engineering and the sciences to help female executives grow into more senior roles and improve their performance within their organisations.

Mother: A Date with Mom

After 21 years of marriage, My wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She said, "I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you."

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally. That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.

"What's wrong, are you well," she asked?

My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.

"I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you," I responded. "Just the two of us."

She thought about it for a moment, and then said, "I would like that very much."
That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date.
She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary. She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's.

"I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed," she said, as she got into the car.

"They can't wait to hear about our meeting."

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips.

"It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small," she said.

"Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor," I responded.
During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation, nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie.

As we arrived at her house later, she said, "I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you." I agreed.

"How was your dinner date?" asked my wife when I got home.

"Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined," I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her.

Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place mother and I had dined. An attached note said: "I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son."

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: "I LOVE YOU" and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till "some other time".

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby .... somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, "normal" is history.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct, somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring ... somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit.

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will "turn out good"....somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.

Somebody said "good" mothers never raise their voices.. somebody never came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor's kitchen window.

Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother.... somebody never helped a fourth grader with his math.

Somebody said you can't love the second child as much as you love the first ... somebody doesn't have two children.

Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books.... somebody never had a child stuff beans up his nose or in his ears.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery....somebody never watched her "baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten or on a plane headed for military "boot camp."

Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back ....somebody never organized seven giggling Brownies to sell cookies.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married....somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home....somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her.... somebody isn't a mother.

Pass this along to all the "mothers" in your life, and to everyone who ever had a mother.

This isn't just about being a mother, it's about appreciating the people in your life while you have them....no matter who that person is.

Sex, Chocolate and Jewelry
By Sam Serio

Forget about the 1960's Flower Power credo: "Sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll." Toss out your DVD of the steamy 1989 erotic thriller "Sex, Lies, and Videotape." In the health-conscious, food-obsessed, "bling"-oriented 21st Century, we seem to have stopped hurtling forward and started to move backwards Everything old is new again and we're returning to a kinder, gentler era when gentlemen and ladies enjoyed sex, chocolate, and jewelry as the language of love.

Our Love Affair with Chocolate

3,000 years ago, Indians of Central America poured molten chocolate from one pot to another to create bitter drink with a froth on top, the part they liked best. Spanish conquistadores and missionaries took the beverage back to Europe, where it became fashionable with the aristocracy, who added sugar to it. Today, three centuries later, hot chocolate remains a favorite drink shared by friends, family…and lovers.

For a "pulse" on 21st Century chocolate, there's no better place to go than the annual Fancy Foods Show. This year, the chocolate beverage of choice was a hot chocolate reminiscent of the "nectar of the gods" preferred by the Mayans and Aztecs. The steamy treat is made with a high-cocoa-content dark chocolate and (in response to the low-carb craze, no doubt) less sugar.

How does this cocoa fit in with romance? Chocolate bars are replacing coffee bars and liquor bars as the meeting place of choice for singles with a taste for love…and sweets. In New York City, the popular midtown hotspot "The Chocolate Bar" serves hot chocolate drinks including Classic Hot Chocolate, Spicy Hot Chocolate, and White Chocolate Caramel and iced chocolate beverages including Chocolate Shakers (served over ice, with espresso and whipped cream)

Our Love Affair with Sex

When it comes to sex, every forty years seems to signal the arrival of a new wave of permissiveness and freedom. In the 20's, the world embraced "The Flapper Era"…and one another…with abandon. Tough times in the 30's and 40's put an end to the jazz babies, and gave birth to the tough, no-nonsense, almost asexual Rosie the Riveters who didn't have time for pleasures of the flesh. (And a good thing, too, since men were at war.)

As the 40's drew to a close, the "boys" came home to a booming post-war economy and produced a boom of their own -- the Baby Boom. And when those baby boomers hit their stride in the 1960's…the sexual revolution was born. Free love (and a fair number of sexually transmitted diseases!) were the order of the day.

Power and influence became "sexy" in the 80's and 90's. It was a button-down time reminiscent of the 50's, with preppie boys and girls emulating the dress, manner, and courtship rituals of their grandparents. That conservatism continues today, but the drumbeats of a new age can be heard in the lifestyle of Generation "Next."

Our Love Affair with Jewelry

Throughout time, both men and women have worn jewelry for power and for protection from ghosts, deities, snakes, and even bill collectors! Our ancestors wore jewelry for good reason. Personal adornment and the use of bright, shiny items to attract a mate is as old as time. Jewelry is our way of showing off, spreading our "peacock feathers" to make a hit with the opposite sex.

Put on jewelry and you're putting on protection. (Not that kind!) What we call jewelry is really the evolution of personal adornment that has its roots in power-bestowing charms and talismans. Today, fashion forward jewelry wearers covet "conventional jewelry," but with a unique touch. Many of the unique pieces people wear today are rooted in cultural and ethnic traditions, interpreted in a decidedly 21st Century way. The goal is for jewelry to express a link between the present and the past.

A Modern Goddess Speaks of Love and Work

Any Woman Can Become a Modern Goddess and Attract Good Things With Ease
By Barbara Wright Abernathy

The Great Goddess may be an ancient echo in the collective
unconscious of the human race, but her legacy still lives in every
woman. Today's woman is rediscovering her inherent female strengths and creating a new model of feminine power: the “Modern Goddess.”

The 20th
century ushered in the modern era of more freedom and more rights for
women. Another big push came in the 1960's and 1970's with the
“Women's Liberation” movement, which helped to open up more
opportunities for women to work in previously male-dominated fields.

We focused so intently on getting money and position and things
that we lost sight of what it really means to be female. We forgot
that men are meant to serve us. We forgot how to be gracious and
serene. That is why, now that we have entered the 21st century and the
next millennium, it's time for us to take another leap forward and become
proud examples of the truly Modern Goddess. Cultivating the proper
Goddess attitude
naturally attracts good into your life. Struggle
becomes a thing of the past. With the right attitude you can harness the
flow of good that is your god-given right and ride it gracefully toward
your desires.

The Four Pillars

The Four Pillars of the Modern Goddess are the foundation on which
your new life is built. As you create and cultivate the Four Pillars in
yourself, your life begins to move and change in magical and
mysterious
ways. To be a woman is to be an earthbound vessel for
the unseen power that is the true nature of our reality. That power is
meant to be honored and cherished, as is every woman on this
planet. The Four Pillars give us some simple guidelines for
remembering how beautiful and special each one of us is.

Pillar I: Never Rush.

A Goddess has time for everything that is important to her. She stays
calm and relaxed. If you are stressed out and harried, stop and
take a deep breath. You always have all the time you need if you
believe you do. Learn how to say no. Don't over-commit
yourself. Live life at your own pace.

Pillar II: Never Worry.

A Goddess knows that she always has everything she needs. Worry is needlessly borrowing trouble from the future. She knows
that things always have a way of working themselves out if we allow
them to. She has a deep and abiding faith that God is her
source and she always has enough.

Pillar III: Receive Graciously.

A Goddess graciously receives all gifts and compliments
with a simple, “thank you.” She never belittles or criticizes herself or her
accomplishments. When someone wants to give you something or help
you, accept the gift with a smile. A Goddess always remembers
that allowing men to assist and serve her is the gift she gives to them.

Pillar IV: Appreciate Continually.

Accept and appreciate all the good that comes to you, especially the little things. Whatever you appreciate increases. Make it a habit
to say, “how usual!” whenever something good happens to you. The
more you express your gratitude, the more good the universe
sends your way.

How Usual

Most people react to something good happening to them as an out-
of-the-ordinary event. How often have you said, “I don't believe it!” or,
“that's amazing!” when you receive a delightful surprise. Words and
thoughts have great power, so if your words convey to the
universe that this is an unusual occurrence, it will comply. Your
subconscious will make sure that “it's amazing” that anything good ever
happens to you.

In our house we have adopted a more positive way of
responding.
My husband and I love to exclaim (often in unison),
“how usual!”
whenever something good happens to either of us
whether it is a parking spot, a good news phone call, or a nice fat check
in the mail. Receiving good is “how usual” in our life because we are in
the habit of mentally creating it. Why not get into the “how usual!” habit
yourself. Let the universe know that receiving good is a regular,
everyday thing for you, too. “How usual!”

Today these Four Pillars are the foundation of my everyday life.
They are all ingrained in me as habits of thinking and action.
Not only do they make daily living a joy, they also make it possible to
attract a great man who thinks the same way. It should be no surprise to
you that my husband has these very same habits and beliefs. You, too,
can attract wonderful people and good things into your life by
adopting the Four Pillars as your own.

Empowered Women: 10 Tips

Top 10 Women Entrepreneurs' Empowerment Tips
By Ponn Sabra

1. Enlightenment - Have Faith.

In a Woman's Entrepreneur Success Survey I conducted, the #1 category chosen out of 44 to define "Success" was "Faith". It can be assumed that accountability to God, or a higher purpose, helps you work with strong values, ethics and morals; based on charity, kindness, compassion, and the genuine passion to help others. Also, having faith may help you learn from your failures quicker, have less fear, and take more educated risks, because every experience (good or bad) is one step closer to goal attainment for all the right reasons.

2. Empowerment of Self - The Ability to Chose.

Empowerment is about learning there are choices, in which you have the right to be the
healthiest and happiest person you can be today. One critical choice in the self-empowerment process is to enter into self-discovery process that leads to self-acceptance and results in self-love. You will reach your personal and business's greatest potential, once you master this equation: Self-Love = Self-Discovery + Self-Acceptance.

3. Exercise Balance with Your Family.

Since your family gives you the most personal fulfillment, it is importantto always prioritize your business accordingly. Choose to live life with your family, not because of, or for them by making excuses to yourself, such as "work comes first". After almost facing death, I learned that I must always: Work Wisely + Play Plenty = Rest Reassured.

4. The Enterprise Must Include the Power of Power Networks.

As a conductor of your own enterprise, you can not see yourself as a one-woman-show. You must choose to utilize the power people in your life, by asking for help when you need it, and effectively delegating in order tocapitalize on your strengths and that of your power network. When certain experts are not represented in your power network, you must actively seek advisors or mentors and develop a team of specialists, so the benefits are received by everyone involved in the power network - the true Power of Power Networks.

5. Experience Success through Principles That Work.

Rather than re-invent the success cycle; read, study and try different principles proven to have worked in the numerous business-improvement resources available to you. Choose to learn something(S) new every single day.

Give this one a try: The Empowerment Equation to Success:

Desire + Action = Success

Action = 5 A's: Acquisition, Affirmative Attitude, Accountability, Asking, and Accomplish.

Visit EmpowerWomenNow.com often for updated professional empowerment tools as well.

6. Exclusive Business Brand.

Brand yourself as the exclusive business in your target market. The more you invest your time, money, efforts, and human resource in developing your Unique Selling Proposition, once your clients start rolling in...their loyalty will last for their lifetime and that of their offspring. The power of being the first and only means you have no competition. Therefore, your clients have no one else to turn to. Always chose to be a specialist at something...not a generalist in everything. Dare to be Your Best Self! [Beware: Once you start succeeding at what you do, you WILL have competition. At which time, it's critical to build alliances...not enemies.]

7. Establish Systems to Maximize Time.

You must establish as many systems as possible (i.e., priority planning, to do's, office hours, meeting days, etc.) to be time-efficient. Streamline all your business protocols for maximum productivity that includes but not limited to your daily, weekly, monthly and annual duties and responsibilities.

8. Expand Your Marketing Reach.

Diversify your online and offline marketing portfolio. Always be open to try something new, different and creative, but never stop at a one-time opportunity. Repetitive efforts are rewarded the most. Areas include: website, blog, article submission, local and internet press release campaign, venture partnerships, link exchanges, charity sponsorships, public speaking, radio interviews, teleseminars, volunteerism, search engine optimization/marketing, building power networks, and hosting local events.

9. Experiment for a Positive Bottom Line.

For every new formula, system, or marketing campaign you try, you must always test and track your results. Stay accountable to your bottom-line by being patient enough to see results and persistent enough to gain the most from your efforts. Don’t give up too easily, and don’t let dead-weight pull you down. Always be cost-conscious.

10. Envisioning Goes beyond Goal Setting.

Envisioning your goals means being able to apply all your senses to the moment when your goal is achieved. Basically, you need to touch, taste, smell, feel, and hear your goal already accomplished, so that moment becomes so vivid in your mind, that you will become happy and empowered right now.Your positive focus will fill your workdays with fun, and you'll always be proud of your efforts rather than disappointed with your unfinished tasks. Coming from a Type-A personality, this is easier said than done; but having just written this down, I'm now accountable to you. Now, I challenge you to stay empowered and keep our power network alive!

Please share your comments and feedback, by leaving a quick note at Empowering Women Right Now Blog. This Women's Empowerment Cycle can't roll without ya!

Rob Benwell - Blogging to the Bank

Are you tired of watching the pennies roll in? Wanna see some serious cash for a change?

I was looking over my blogs a few days back and wondering what I could do to make a big change in the income I'm getting from them. I'd received an email from Rob Benwell and I knew there was more money available, I just didn't know how to get my share. Well, that is until I ordered his book "Blogging to the Bank".

I took the afternoon off, printed that book and read it cover to cover with my highlighter in hand. I highlighted all the stuff I was doing already in yellow and all the stuff I wasn't doing in pink. Let me tell you, there was far more yellow on those pages than there was pink, when I got done. But I went back and reread the stuff that was highlighted in pink.

Okay - so I have a few blogs out there that aren't doing too great numbers wise, and I haven't pushed them with keywords and all that SEO stuff, but I figured they'd make great test cases. So, I started adding in the stuff I hadn't been doing, the stuff labeled in pink. My pennies became judicious dollars, and I could see a difference within hours. More than just the keywords and SEO stuff, I could actually see number differences that were working.

Blogging to the Bank actually had an impact on my bottom line on a couple of blogs. So, I started implementing those changes into more of my blogs. Even the ones that I didn't have any of the "yellow" tips in, I started adding in the "pink" tips.

I have kids to put through college. Let me tell you, the difference in income was exciting. Instead of struggling to keep them in Walmart sale racks and Yardsale goodbuys, I'm thinking I can actually take them shopping this summer at REAL stores. And then the strangest things began to happen. As I got proficient at adding these incredible breakthrough tips to my blogs and websites, I realized the profits are going through the proverbial roof, and I started posting information on my kids blogs, so they could realize some of the same profits to their accounts.

As I began to teach them what I was learning, they began to realize some profits too. And you know what - I'm not taking them shopping this summer, they can pay their own way. I'm seriously looking at the option of retiring sometime before I'm drooling into a bib now, and my children are well on their way to paying their own tuition. Funny thing is, they are all still looking at private colleges and getting solid educations to back them up in their chosen fields, all with the knowledge that they too can Blog it to the Bank. Thanks Rob Benwell!

Fancy Owning a Magazine?
By Joel Comm

One of the strategies for making lots of money with AdSense is so obvious that it rarely gets mentioned: build lots of Web pages.

That’s pretty obvious, right? The more Web pages you have, the more opportunity you’ll have to show ads -- and the more clicks you’ll get.

And yet a lot of AdSense sites on the Web are fairly small, just a few pages with ads on each.

If you’ve created a site to sell a product or discuss a topic that you find interesting, that’s understandable. Your site’s the thing and the ads are just a way to help pay for it. But for those sorts of sites, a magazine could be an excellent solution.

So, for example, if you had a website about mortgages to promote your lending business, you might only need half a dozen pages to describe each of your services. But you could also add a magazine that was filled with articles about interest rates or how to choose the right type of mortgage or buying a home or whatever you wanted. You could write those articles yourself, hire writers to do it for you or invite Realtors or other people in related businesses to submit pieces and receive some free publicity in return.

You’d benefit by offering your users more content. And of course, you’d make money by having more places to put your ads.

One option that might have made it easier for people to create their own magazines is the iJoomla Magazine component. If you used Joomla (the old Mambo program) to build your website, then you might be familiar with it already.

I have to admit, I haven’t used it. But I have heard that since it came out a couple of months ago, it’s been flying off the shelves. It’s supposed to make creating the layout for a magazine an absolute breeze. All you have to do then is slip in the content. If you can lay your hands on enough of that, you should have a bumper site ready to roll in minutes. It sounds like it could be a good solution for people with small sites who want more pages to place their ads on.

But like I said, I haven’t tried it so if any of you have, let’s hear the results!
